How ABC Real Goods Solar's Professionals Work to Solarize Your Home
1) Feasibility and Cost/Benefit Analysis:
After you contact one of our solar experts, we will go to work immediately to determine if solar is right for you. We ask you to provide us with:
- A complete copy of a recent utility bill
- A description or rough drawing of your home's directional orientation
- A description of your roofing material, condition and age
With this information in hand, our technician will discuss with you the possibility of making a personal visit to your home to evaluate your location, and measure precisely your access to sunlight. Once we have conducted a site visit we will then get back to you with:
- A comprehensive recommendation specifying which solar system is right for your situation.
- A price quote that includes all equipment, delivery to your home, installation, building inspections and amount of rebate available. Remember, that you will only have to pay the costs not covered by the rebate (30% to 60% of the total), we will collect the remainder from the government ourselves.
- A financial analysis of return on investment for your system, years to payback, internal rate of return, including any state or federal tax credits or incentives available to you.
2) Contract Signing, Procurement, and Installation Scheduling:
When you have made a decision to proceed with a solar installation on your home, after consulting in your home with one of our solar experts, the next steps are:
- Sign our purchase and installation contract and provide us with a $1,000 deposit.
- Our solar experts will submit your rebate application, qualifying you for the maximum rebate available (which we collect as part of your payment).
- We schedule installation - usually six weeks after the contract is signed.
- We procure a building permit.
3) Installation of your Solar System:
Our professional installers will typically install your complete system in 1-3 days.
- Because we credit you for the rebate amount upfront, you only pay the after rebate cost (30% to 60% of the total depending on your state's rebate program).
- At the beginning of installation 50% of your share is due. The balance is due a few days later when installation is complete and we have tested your system.
- At that point, we'll schedule an inspection with the local building inspectors, your utility and the rebate agency for final approval. Once the inspections are completed your system will be fully operational.
- You will then be generating your own solar power and promoting a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable energy future for generations to come.
